Do You Want to Be Healed?

alone In John 5, there is an amazing story of our role as followers of Jesus. The setting is a pool called Bethesda where people believed that at certain times an angel stirred the water and you could be healed if you could get in.

A 38 year old lame man could never find his way in.

Jesus asks this 38 year old helpless man a question that will change his life forever: “Do you want to be healed? His response: “I have no one to put me in the water when it get’s stirred”.  Jesus, the real Healer speaks words of healing and this lame man walks away healed.

Jesus is asking you, asking our neighbors this same question: “Do you want to be healed?”  Our role as followers of Jesus is to be that “NO ONE” who helps our neighbors look UP to see Jesus and hear His invitation to be made well.  Really well.  To be the one who has loved enough to build a bridge and come alongside with listening ears, encouraging words and the amazing truth of the positive headlines of Jesus.

Who is the person in your life who has “NO ONE“?

We invite you take a minute and INTERACT here by writing a prayer in the comment section, or sharing a story or question related to this story.   You might use a persons initials so we can join in and pray, or you might ask for prayer.   We hope this story finds it’s way into your soul and life in a fresh way.

When I was young I did awfull things to other people hurting them in the most traumatic ways humanly possible. From the rejection and hurt I experienced as child teenager and young adult I inflicted wounds that took years to heal.

In the process I was hurting myself but never knew it. I couldn’t forgive those that abused and mistreated me.
But Jesus healed me, He took me in His arms and I forgot about the stirring waters, I forgot about doctors and phsycologists I forgot about everybody and lost myself in Him.
He pulled my dead lifeless being into His arms and I could smell His perfect aroma sweet as blossoms. When His eyes met mine I could see the tears of pleasure and love in them. How often do we seek pleasure from others instead of His presence.
Today I wish to bring others to His arms. So that they can loose themselves in Him as well. I pray that Jesus will allow me to take hope to that woman who just left the bed of another maried man. Hope to the child who never knew father love. Hope to the broken man at home waiting for his wife to return.
I pray that God will heal me completely, and send me into this world with one purpose: to bring hope in Jesus Christ.
